A Site-Specific Dinner by REST and Oficina

Quantity

On July 19th, REST and Oficina come together for a one-night dining experience in the countryside of southwest Friesland — a place where geological time, agricultural history, and artistic research converge.

Programme

The event will take place Wieldyk 8 in Mirns on Saturday, July 25, from 17:00 to 21:00.

The evening will begin with a gentle arrival. Guests are invited to take time to walk the grounds, enjoy a welcome drink, and settle into the landscape before the first course is served. Guests will also be welcomed to explore Two Hectare, an exhibition on view at REST from June 22 to August 17. Dinner will unfold gradually, shaped by the season and the site. Before the main dish there is a conversation between Saskia Noor van Imhoff, Arnout Meijer and curator Claire van Els, offering insight into the ideas behind REST. As the sun begins to set, dessert will be served outdoors.

Join the table for an evening where food and art trace the story of a place and invite reflection on what futures can be nourished from the remnants of the past.

Please note: guests are kindly asked to arrange their own transportation to the site. Directions will provided closer to date.

About +

REST is a transdisciplinary project situated on a one-and-a-half-century-old farm in Mirns. Initiated by artist Saskia Noor van Imhoff and designer Arnout Meijer, it serves as both a living archive and project zone. Through situated and embodied research, REST explores how materials — shaped by ecological, social, and political forces — carry the memory of landscape, labour, and time. The project questions the systems and paradigms that shape our perception, using material remnants to reflect on the past, make sense of the present, and imagine possible futures.

For this event, Oficina — an Amsterdam-based food design studio — creates a dinner shaped by the character of the land. Working closely with the season’s offerings and the surrounding context, Oficina uses food as a storytelling tool to explore material culture, place, and the act of gathering. The experience unfolds as a sensory and layered composition of food, form, and atmosphere that draws directly from the rhythms and residues of the site.
